Kombuthooki is a small mountainous tribal village in Yercaud Taluk, 20 kms away from Montfort A.I. School, Yercaud and is situated in the interior semi-forest regions at the edge of the Shevaroy Hills abutting Dharmapuri District. There are a cluster of 18 villages and 50 hamlets with a net population of nearly 20000 inhabitants. Most of these villages, had no electricity or proper roads.
Bro. George Kalangod
It was by providence that I stumbled upon the hitherto undiscovered ‘thread of urgency’ that lay bare and untouched for years, interweaved between the tribal villages around Kombuthooki. Ever since we reached Koravankadu in 1999, we have moved forward with enthusiasm and empathy to uplift and liberate the first generation learners of this interior tribal habitat, with one agenda viz. ‘Education’. Starting with the little we could collect from the generous students of Montfort AI and Deshayes Mount Schools and full faith and trust in His Providence we moved forward.
We envision the upliftment of the less fortunate and marginalized children hailing from the 22 tribal villages and hamlets around Kombuthoooki, without any cultural or gender bias. We aim to liberate and empower these "first generation learners" from their ignorance and socio-economic conditions through free and Holistic education along with curricular and co-curricular activities and "life-oriented skills".
Inspired by the Mission of God's beloved Son, who came to uplift the poor and the marginalized, we walk the same path in empowering the less fortunate children, the youth and women struggling for justice and a dignified living.
We strive hard to achieve excellence and all round development to bring about change and transformation among the tribals deprived of life's opportunities, by providing comprehensive value based education, health care and life skills in a loving and caring environment. Day after day, we listen to the call of our Master to serve all men and women, irrespective of their caste, creed and gender after the model and example of Mother Teresa, the angel of Mercy.
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Mat: 25/40.
Our students consistently excel in academics, showing strong performance in board exams and active participation in scholastic activities.
